Yay for photoshop! Well I was really bored and messing around with some of my other recent pictures to make them into wallpapers (I'll probably post them in my journal thingy instead of the gallery since I already posted the originals - I might have them up later tonight) and I came to this one and decided to play with filters to see what nifty effects they would have on it (yes, I know, photoshop filters are the epitome of all evil), and nothing was looking very good but eventually I came to my new favorite tool-thingy under the image adjustments menu, "threshold" and started playing with it. Naturally what it gave me initially was a very very messy version of this (sans background color that is) but I liked the basic effect and went back in with my paintbrush and eraser and cleaned it up. And then to smooth it out a bit more I used the cutout filter (also very handy for cleaning stuff up -- only works with some things though).
Oh yeah, I also wanted to note that I'm not totally sure what the background color is going to look like on everyone else's monitors... I use two monitors when I CG stuff and they're both claibrated slightly differently (one's calibrated like an average PC <or so my father claims> and the other is calibrated for our printer so what it prints is the same as what's on the screen) but everything tends to look a little off when I look at it on my laptop, so I don't really know if the background color is going to look the way I indended it to (I know it doesn't seem like it'll be a big difference but on one monitor it looks significantly darker and richer than the other and it's been bugging me).
O_O!!! It looks even cooler than before! *Sets it as backround* @__@ Whoa...Have I told you how frippin awesome you are? This just has such an awesome feel to it...;_; I love it.
This is really impressive! Your use of basic white, black, and brown are impressive and effective. Also, I like the effect of how the characters directly blend into their shadows. The shadows are actually really cool in reference to the character angles. Also, your eye for small details is admirable. The stringy details add a sort of depth to the whole image and fill in some spots that would seem empty. Some of the feet are a little weird, but feet are a pain in the ass. Great picture!
